Technical Specialist
Teryn Mitchell supports patent prosecution, prior art investigations, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses with a technical background in biomedical engineering, computer science, advanced manufacturing processes, design innovation and regulatory strategy. She works with clients across medical devices, life sciences, engineering, and emerging digital technologies.
Before joining Finnegan, Teryn gained hands-on industry experience at two leading medical device companies, where she contributed to the development and validation of manufacturing processes. Her experience includes additive manufacturing, instrument and capital equipment assembly, machining, battery technology, microelectronics, extrusion, and drug development and manufacturing. She supported both strategic manufacturability assessments and hands-on implementation of process controls, equipment assembly, and release protocols.
At Georgia Tech, Teryn collaborated with the Air Force Special Operations Command on a capstone project to design a device enabling safe transport and storage of blood and other temperature-sensitive materials in remote environments. This project involved sensor integration, graphical user interface (GUI) development, data intake and management, testing of material properties and seals, and overall device development iterative processes. Teryn was a teaching assistant for several biomedical engineering courses.
Teryn’s academic and industry work includes data mining, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, with a particular focus on GUI design. She has built systems for database creation and management, automation workflows, and the development of online resources and web-based platforms to support clinical and engineering applications.
