Seth Freedman utilizes his academic and industrial experience in natural product total synthesis and medicinal chemistry to assist clients with patent prosecution matters in the chemical and pharmaceutical fields.
Prior to joining Finnegan, Seth developed expertise in chemistry during his graduate studies, through which he earned a masters degree performing research on novel cyclization methodology utilizing gold(I) catalysis. This work included developing synthetic routes towards quaternary center-rich and non-functionalized terpene natural products.
While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Seth performed research on the total synthesis of the stereochemically rich polyketide family of phomopsolide natural products. This work also included S-SAR studies on the natural product family along with unnatural analogues synthesized in the lab. Seth gained experience in the drug discovery industry by engaging in two co-op internship opportunities in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, specializing in the small molecule space.
