With broad technical expertise in biomedical engineering, including medical devices, imaging, and robotics, Samir Ismail leverages his experience to assist in intellectual property matters in the mechanical and electrical fields.
Samir's versatile background includes developing medical devices and robotics. As an engineering student, Samir was involved in several design projects, including creating a robotic brace for arm fractures. During his coursework, he also studied medical imaging techniques and applications of image sensors.
Samir gained industry experience through working at various medical technology companies, including a surgical robotics startup, where he assisted in developing and validating products for image-guided spine surgery. He has assisted with digital health research, such as applying machine learning algorithms to medical imaging to improve precision medicine outcomes for patients with lung disease. As a fellow at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures, Samir furthered his industry knowledge through licensing work. While a member of the tech transfer department's licensing team, he analyzed diligence matters related to developing intellectual property licensed from researchers at Johns Hopkins University and Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions.
