Associate
Ryan's litigation experience includes developing infringement and invalidity theories, claim construction, fact and expert discovery, motions practice, brief drafting (before both district and appellate courts), and examining witnesses and arguing motions at trial.
While in law school, Ryan worked as a summer associate at Finnegan, assisting in litigation matters before federal district courts, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the PTAB. He also spent a summer working as an intern at a prominent IP firm in Vietnam. Ryan participated in the Intellectual Property Clinic at Indiana University, where he drafted patent applications, filed office action responses, and performed initial patentability searches for local inventors and startups.
At Purdue University, Ryan conducted research on the use of microwave resonance sensors to measure operating parameters of various pharmaceutical powders. He operated a roller compactor to make ribbons from pharmaceutical powders and used a microwave resonance sensor to create calibration models to measure their moisture, density, and composition.
Ryan incorporates pro bono work into his practice through representing clients before both the Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims and the Social Security Administration. He has been recognized on the Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll.
