Associate
Jason has an extensive academic background, with dual degrees in computer science and medicine. He carries substantial research experience in ophthalmic imaging technologies, computer vision, biomedical natural language processing, and speech synthesis. Jason has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed journal publications and participated in conference presentations.
Prior to law school, Jason was a resident physician in ophthalmology. He diagnosed and managed various ophthalmic conditions such as glaucoma, diseases of the cornea and retina, and neuro-ophthalmological disorders. He also completed an ocular oncology rotation at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. Before residency training, he was a one-year research fellow at the New England Eye Center, where he collaborated with the Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE) at MIT to conduct cutting-edge clinical research on the detection and 3D modeling of vitreoretinal diseases using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
During law school, Jason was a legal extern to Judge James Donato of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He drafted briefs and memos and performed complex legal research in multiple intellectual property cases involving patent and trade secret disputes. He also assisted Judge Donato with preparing an international conference speech on section 101 patent eligibility.
Jason devotes time to volunteering and pro bono matters. He served as a resident ophthalmologist at a St. Vincent clinic for indigent patients, as well as an Americorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service of America) member in rural healthcare centers. Jason's pro bono practice includes working on a case involving an appeal of Social Security disability benefits, in which he utilized his medical background to review and analyze the case medical history and provided client counseling.
