Jamal Perry focuses on patent litigation, patent preparation and prosecution, strategic client counseling, and patent portfolio development across a broad range of technologies. Drawing on his background in mechanical engineering as well as his industry experience in product design, manufacturing, and research and development (R&D), he helps clients identify, protect, and maximize the value of their innovations.

Jamal’s technical knowledge covers a broad range of complex technologies, including medical devices, software, automotive systems, aerospace technologies, consumer goods, consumer electronics, wearables, robotics, and energy storage. He advises clients through all stages of U.S. and international utility and design patent prosecution, including handling invention disclosures, preparing new and continuing patent applications, responding to office actions, and managing domestic and international portfolios. Jamal has advised Fortune 500 companies, multinational corporations, and emerging growth companies on securing and leveraging IP assets.

Jamal’s practice extends to diligence, clearance, landscape analysis, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analysis, design-around, and licensing matters. He has also supported clients in pre-litigation and day-to-day litigation efforts in support of infringement and invalidity disputes.

Prior to entering the legal field, Jamal worked as an engineer with an American multinational consumer goods corporation, where he led and supported product development, manufacturing optimization, and modeling initiatives. He also gained engineering experience with an American aerospace manufacturer, where he worked on jet engine component design, evaluation, and testing.

While pursuing his law degree, Jamal served as a research assistant, examining issues at the intersection of trade secret law, big data, machine learning (ML), and labor rights.
