Law Clerk
Jaide Cummings applies her legal training and technical background in chemistry, biology, and environmental chemistry to intellectual property (IP) matters.
As a summer associate with Finnegan, Jaide conducted extensive legal research, assisted with trial preparation, and contributed to a criminal pro bono matter that was dismissed before trial. Her legal experience further extends to examining the implications of a major collegiate athletics settlement and the effect of Title IX for a proposed revenue-sharing framework as well as analyzing sports contracts.
While in law school, Jaide bolstered her legal background through an IP clinic and an IP entertainment law practicum. She also served as a teaching assistant for a sports law course.
Before beginning her legal career, Jaide conducted research in medicinal chemistry, structural biology, and protein biochemistry relating to drug discovery and targeted cancer therapies. She helped design epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors using molecular visualization software to analyze X-ray crystal structures of protein kinase domains, as well as authored a thesis on the structural biology of the allosteric pocket of Src family kinases (SFKs).
