His work involves complex technologies, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), blockchain, and telecommunications. Jacob’s prosecution background affords him strategic insight into how patents are constructed and where they are most vulnerable.
Jacob has experience collaborating on multiple IPR teams, contributing to pre institution strategy through detailed prior art analysis, developing invalidity positions, and assisting with the drafting of petitions and expert declarations. He supports active and pre litigation matters by conducting legal research, performing technical and prior art evaluations, and assisting with document review. Jacob drafts and prosecutes utility patent applications across a range of electrical and software driven technologies and has handled technology licensing agreements and IP rights contracts.
Jacob’s legal internship at a multinational aerospace, arms and information security company included prosecuting utility patent applications directed to electronic and mechanical technologies and preparing legal memoranda addressing IP, employment, and contract issues. He gained litigation and judicial insight serving as a judicial extern for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, where he conducted legal research and assisted in drafting judicial opinions and memoranda on dispositive motions and procedural matters.
As a summer associate with a boutique IP law firm, Jacob was responsible for drafting responses to patent office actions, reviewing and editing Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) applications for U.S. practice compliance, and conducting prior art analysis supporting freedom to operate (FTO) and invalidity opinions.
Jacob brings a strong technical foundation to his legal practice. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Yale University, where he was a member of the varsity football team.
