Associate
David Izzo focuses on all phases of the patent life cycle, including prosecution, litigation, and client counseling. His technical experience in the chemical and pharmaceutical sciences includes synthetic and catalytic research related to renewable energies.
While in law school, Dave worked as a student attorney at the university’s Intellectual Property Law Clinic, through which he gained experience counseling clients on patentability strategy, invalidity opinions, and freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses. He drafted and advised on business entity documents in addition to handling a range of agreements, including nondisclosure, assignment, user terms and conditions, and privacy policies.
Dave’s experience as a summer associate at Finnegan included conducting legal research and analysis across industries, preparing patent validity assessments, and assisting in developing litigation strategies. He also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Patricia M. Mayer of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and gained invaluable experience drafting bench opinions and researching issues related to bankruptcy litigation.
Before law school, Dave conducted undergraduate and graduate level research in organometallic chemistry. His master’s thesis aimed at improving synthetic pathways for catalysts assisting in renewable energy and hydrogen production, characterized by a variety of analytical techniques, including nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), and cyclic voltammetry.
