Cerise Raffier leverages her technical background in chemistry and molecular biology to assist clients with patent prosecution matters within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields.
Before joining Finnegan, Cerise worked at the Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT) at the Broad Institute of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard. She developed biochemical and biophysical assays to identify and optimize small molecules for therapeutic applications. Her research focused on identifying inhibitors for protein targets involved in various cancer types, collaborating with both academic and industrial partners.
Cerise possesses a broad range of technical expertise in biochemistry, including mass spectrometry-based assays, ligand binding assays, and enzymology. During her graduate studies, she gained experience in recombinant protein expression and enzyme engineering.
Finnegan is lead and preferred IP transactions counsel for one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, handling more than 50 diligence projects each year, including all IP and related transactional aspects of the matters. The transactions span the full gamut of technologies from small molecule through biologics such as antibodies, oligonucleotides, and gene therapies. Finnegan also provides extensive assistance with post-deal integration procedures and subsequent global prosecution and portfolio strategy, ensuring a seamless transition of IP assets to the company and maximum value from acquired IP.
