Audrey E. Plzak

While in law school, Audrey developed interests in intellectual property (IP) litigation, internet and technology law, and legal issues arising from emerging technologies. Her work at Finnegan has further expanded those interests to include disputes involving standard-essential patents (SEPs), FRAND licensing, patent damages, proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), and litigation before the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Audrey earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, where she developed a strong interest in automotive engineering and product design. Her engineering experience has included hands-on design and fabrication work, including designing and building a BAJA SAE vehicle and multiple bicycles. Through these projects, she gained practical experience with mechanical systems, manufacturing, troubleshooting, and product development, giving her a firsthand understanding of how complex technologies are designed, built, and improved.

During college, Audrey joined the USPTO as an extern, where she examined patent applications and conducted prior-art analysis in the sports division. Her experience at the USPTO provided insight into patent examination, claim drafting, and the practical considerations that shape patent prosecution strategy.

Outside of her practice, Audrey enjoys rock climbing and motorcycling.
