Audrey Chang, Ph.D., a qualified European patent attorney and a U.S. patent agent, focuses on strategic patent portfolio development and client counseling in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields. She applies her technical expertise in life sciences to support a broad range of patent-related matters.

Audrey assists clients with developing intellectual property (IP) protection strategies and manages global patent prosecution portfolios. She conducts patent due diligence and provides opinions on freedom-to-operate (FTO), patentability, infringement, and validity.

Audrey has worked in a variety of IP departments in both Europe and the U.S. Prior to joining Finnegan, she worked at a Belgium-based biopharma company specializing in neurological and autoimmune conditions. She handled IP strategy, patent drafting and prosecution, and FTO analyses in support of early-stage products in gene therapy and antibody therapeutics. Audrey gained experience in patent strategy and prosecution through working at a 3D printing company and a university technology transfer office, both in Belgium, as well as at a general practice law firm in Boston, Massachusetts.

Audrey’s scientific training as a doctoral student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying synaptic plasticity.
