Arzeena S. Ali, Ph.D., focuses on drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a broad range of technologies, with a particular emphasis on matters related to chemistry, life sciences, and materials science. Arzeena represents clients before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as well as international patent offices, advising on prosecution strategy and conducting patentability analyses.

Arzeena’s practice encompasses the preparation and prosecution of patent applications along with counseling clients on strategies to build and strengthen their intellectual property (IP) portfolios. She has experience working in diverse technical fields, including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, polymer chemistry, chemical biology, lipid-based materials, nanomaterials, catalysts, and medical devices. 

 

Prior to her legal career, Arzeena earned a doctorate in chemistry from Rice University, where she was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the ligand chemistry of atomically precise gold nanoclusters using a variety of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. Arzeena also conducted undergraduate research pertaining to DNA-guided nanoparticle synthesis. She has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals, reflecting her deep technical expertise in synthetic chemistry and nanotechnology.
