Arpita's patent litigation experience covers all aspects of district court and International Trade Commission (ITC) litigations, from pre-suit due diligence through trial and appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In her patent office practice, Arpita represents petitioners and patent owners in all phases of inter partes review (IPR) and post grant review (PGR) proceedings and resulting appeals to the Federal Circuit. Her counseling practice includes providing strategic advice through opinions of counsel, patent portfolio development and management, due diligence investigations, and freedom-to-operate analyses.
Arpita's Ph.D. dissertation work focused on developing microfluidic "lab-on-a-chip" technologies for point-of-care immunoassays and molecular diagnostics. While completing her masters program, Arpita studied protein adsorption behavior in microfluidic channels and analyzed surface modification conditions that resist biofouling of MEMS (micro-electromechanical system) devices. During her graduate studies, Arpita also acquired technical experience in image processing, orthopedics, microfabrication, and biomaterials. Through her undergraduate studies in electronics engineering, Arpita gained experience in a wide range of electrical technologies, including telecommunication devices, control systems, circuit design, computer architecture, semiconductors, and robotics.
