WASHINGTON, DC—Finnegan is pleased to announce that partner Esther H. Lim has been nominated as a candidate for President-Elect in the 2017 District of Columbia Bar Election.
Ms. Lim has over twenty years of experience in a broad patent practice, including litigation and counseling. She served as the founding managing partner of the firm’s Shanghai office and has been recognized by Managing Intellectual Property as a top woman in IP law.
Ms. Lim is active in bar leadership, community outreach, and pro bono work. She has served on the Board of Governors and the Nominations Committee for the D.C. Bar, and currently serves as the Outbound Lawyers Subgroup Chair on the Global Legal Practice Task Force. Ms. Lim has held leadership positions in many other associations, including the American Bar Association, Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, Asian Pacific American Bar Association of the Greater Washington, D.C. Area, and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She has handled a variety of pro bono matters, including landlord/tenant, veteran’s appeal, and special education matters, and has volunteered at client intakes at community clinics. Ms. Lim was recently named to the 2016 D.C. Bar Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll.
Ms. Lim has taught as an adjunct professor at Howard University School of Law since 2003. She chairs the school’s Annual Conference on Intellectual Property and Social Justice. She frequently writes and lectures internationally on issues relating to procurement and enforcement of U.S. intellectual property rights. For ten years, she served as editor-in-chief of the firm’s Last Month at the Federal Circuit newsletter. Ms. Lim served as a law clerk to the Honorable Randall R. Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
