Each student associate is a member of a practice group based on his or her technical background. One of the primary responsibilities of a practice group is to monitor the professional development of its members. What type of work will I get?
Work is allocated based on skill sets, professional development goals, and client needs. Typically, student associates work on patent prosecution, client counseling, and opinion writing. This mix of work provides flexibility, particularly during law school exams. What are the billing goals?
1,500 billable hours per year (including credit for pro bono contributions). Does the firm give credit for pro bono work?
Yes, credit toward your billable goal is awarded for pro bono contributions. Is there an advisor program?
When you join the firm, you are assigned a partner advisor and a peer advisor. Your partner advisor provides formal performance evaluations twice a year and counsels you regarding your professional development. Your peer advisor, who is typically an experienced student associate, will introduce you to others in the firm, take you to lunch, answer your questions, and help you feel comfortable at the firm from day one. Will I receive an associate offer when I graduate from law school?
We value our investment in the student associate program, and we expect that most student associates will receive offers. Over the years, more than 90 percent of our student associates have joined the firm as associate lawyers. What is the firm's dress code?
