USPTO Update: A Year Under Director Kappos

Finnegan-Hosted Event; Speaking Engagement

November 3, 2010

Menlo Park, CA

From a new examiner count system to a proposed three-track system for examination to the Patent Application Backlog Reduction Stimulus Plan (“Bump and Dump”), it is clear that Director David Kappos is changing the way things work at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

During this program, Finnegan’s Charlie Van Horn will discuss the various initiatives that have been proposed or implemented during the first year of Director Kappos’ administration, and he will comment on how those initiatives are altering the face of patent prosecution in the United States.

In addition, In-house counsel Shailendra Bhumralkar of SAP and Dr. Bart Wise of Five Prime Therapeutics will share their perspectives on how the past year and/or changing PTO policies have been affecting their portfolio strategies.

Finnegan confirms that this activity has been certified for 1.5 hours of California MCLE.
