Recent Developments & Hot Topics in IP Law

Finnegan-Hosted Event; Speaking Engagement

May 6, 2009

Cape Elizabeth, ME

In these challenging economic times, companies are reassessing and refocusing their intellectual property management strategies. Developing a strategic plan for protecting and leveraging IP assets in the future requires knowing the current state of the law and where the law is headed. In 2008, the Federal Circuit decided a number of key cases that have changed the landscape of IP law. In 2009, we await further decisions from the Federal Circuit with the potential to greatly impact intellectual property law. In addition, the patent reform debate is heating up again in Congress with the March 3 introduction of new legislation, the Patent Reform Act of 2009.

Finnegan is pleased to offer a selection of presentations on intellectual property issues of interest. Please join us for this complimentary program, as our patent and trademark lawyers present on a variety of topics, including:

Recent Federal Circuit decisions and their impact on patent prosecution and litigation, including:

– Quanta Computer Inc. v. LG Electronics, Inc. on the issue of patent exhaustion

– KSR International Co. v. Teleflex Inc. on the obviousness standard of patentability
