P. Raymond Chen Ph.D.

Student Associate

Raymond Chen focuses on the preparation and prosecution of U.S. patent applications, including those in the fields of biomedical devices, telecommunications, computer networking, mechanical devices, electrical control systems, electronic circuits, software, and business methods.  He also assists in patent litigation, infringement and clearance opinion drafting, and client counseling.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Dr. Chen served as a technical advisor at two Chicago-based patent law firms, and as a biomedical engineer at a Denver-based medical imaging company.  During his graduate study, Dr. Chen focused on developing distributed virtual surgery simulators, computer-based models for tissue simulations, routing algorithms for computer networking, and three-dimensional image reconstruction and processing algorithms for biomedical imaging with a concentration on computed tomography.  Dr. Chen's undergraduate study concentrated on electronic control systems for internal combustion (IC) engines.
