This ABA and DC Bar Association event will feature top professionals from the IP field who will relay practical advice on dealing with the “nuts and bolts” of every day IP practice. Ron Bleeker will give a presentation on due diligence in business transactions, which will include topics on IP asset identification, management of process, searches required, analyses, and evaluation. Virginia Carron will provide an overview on client relations before, during, and after a trademark litigation. She will cover how to help set and manage client expectations, how to work effectively with in-house counsel to achieve litigation goals, and how to retain clients in the result of a loss. Larry Robins will speak on pre-litigation matters, including clearance opinions, demand letters, responding to demands, pre-litigation options, TTAB options, and preliminary injunctions or TRO motions. Doug Rettew will present an overview on discovery, including written discovery, depositions of parties and non parties, third-party discovery, protectective orders, and motions to compel.
