Licensing Executives Society (LES)
Ron Bleeker will chair the September 23 morning plenary sessions at LES's annual meeting in Chicago, Illinois. Speakers from Caterpillar, Inc., BP/Amoco Chemicals, IBM Corporation, and The Pullman Group LLC will discuss initiatives that their companies have developed to enhance brand identity; respond to societal changes; leverage technologies; and develop new sources of revenue. Pat O’Reilley will participate in the September 23rd and 24th workshop on Coordinating Strategies for Patent Protection and Licensing to Optimize Returns on R&D Costs. Additionally, Yitai Hu will conduct a September 24 workshop on the "Impact on Licensing Activities in China and Taiwan after their Entry into the WTO." Each country made extensive changes to their intellectual property related laws, and this workshop should provide participants with a sense of what those changes were and how their licensing activities in China and Taiwan may be impacted.
