Lori-Ann Johnson focuses on client counseling in the areas of portfolio establishment and analysis, due diligence, including acquisition, new product launch, and pre-litigation analysis in the chemical area. She has significant experience in all phases of utility and design patent preparation and procurement, infringement, validity and patentability opinion preparation, reissue and reexamination practice, and licensing.
Ms. Johnson is well versed in understanding U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) standards and is also familiar with the methods and administrative procedures at the USPTO. She knows the specific information that needs to be included in applications and recognizes the factors from which patent examiners typically make decisions.
Ms. Johnson's technical experience spans such diverse chemical areas as pharmaceutical compositions, papermaking, carbon fiber production, lithium ion battery production, medical devices, and xerography.
Ms. Johnson routinely lectures in both the United States and Europe on all aspects of the protection and enforcement of U.S. intellectual property rights, including chemical patent practice, due diligence, and licensing. From August 2003 to August 2009, Ms. Johnson served as resident managing partner of Finnegan’s Brussels office.
