Jacob Schroeder, a partner in Finnegan's Palo Alto, CA office, leads the firm's electrical practice, and represents clients in a variety of industries and technologies in high-visibility intellectual property litigation, appellate, and counseling matters. Jacob's litigation experience includes jury trials and covers all aspects of patent litigation. He also advises clients on appellate strategy and routinely handles appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jacob also counsels and advises clients on confidential, high-stakes matters involving intellectual property rights, including coordinating global patent litigation strategies. Drawing on his experience both as an engineer and as a judicial law clerk, Jacob works closely with clients to develop a legal strategy tailored to meet their business objectives.
Jacob clerked at both the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (with the Honorable Richard Linn) and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California (with the Honorable Lucy H. Koh).
Prior to his legal career, Jacob worked as a software engineer in the Unified Communications Business Unit at Cisco Systems, Inc., developing components for MeetingPlace voice-, video-, and web-conferencing software.
Jacob previously served as hiring partner for Finnegan's Palo Alto office. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer at Santa Clara University School of Law.
