Louis L. Campbell

Associate

Louis Campbell focuses his practice on litigating intellectual property issues related to complex technology matters. He has participated in every aspect of litigation, including briefing claim construction and summary judgment motions, taking witness testimony at trial, deposing fact and expert witnesses, managing discovery, and drafting and arguing a variety of motions concerning discovery and evidentiary issues.

Mr. Campbell's cases have involved a wide range of complex technologies, including integrated circuit design, CPUs, texture compression, enterprise planning software, wireless communications, computer networking, circuit synthesis, semiconductor fabrication technology, and data storage. He has litigated in many of the high profile patent law jurisdictions, including the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), and the district courts for Northern California, Delaware, and Eastern Texas.

Highlights

  • Certain Electronic Devices With Graphics Data Processing Systems, Components Thereof, and Associated Software, 337-TA-813 (ITC). Represented S3 Graphics, an HTC subsidiary, seeking a broad exclusion order against Apple's infringing products. The case settled favorably prior to trial.
  • Computing Devices with Associated Instruction Sets and Software, 337-TA-813 (ITC). Served in a leading role on the team representing Via and Centaur, taking expert witness testimony and cross-examining fact witnesses at trial. The case settled favorably prior to an initial determination.
  • Certain Electronic Devices with Image Processing Systems, Components Thereof, and Associated Software, 337-TA-724 (ITC). Represented S3 Graphics, an HTC subsidiary and pioneering developer of widely-adopted texture compression techniques, seeking a broad exclusion order against Apple's infringing products. Played a leading role on the team, cross-examining several witnesses at trial. The case settled favorably.
  • elcommerce.com, Inc. v. SAP AG, (E.D. Pa.). Obtained a stipulated judgment of non-infringement in light of the court's Markman ruling.
  • U.S. Philips Corp. v. Synergy Dynamics Int’l., LLC, (D. Nev.) Obtained default judgment for plaintiff Philips based on defendants' discovery misconduct.
  • Represented a veteran seeking an increased disability rating in an appeal before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims; briefed and argued the appeal and obtained a remand.
