Cisco Remains on Hook for $6.5M in Router IP Suit

A federal appeals court has largely upheld a decision against Cisco Systems Inc. in a suit accusing it of infringing three Telcordia Technologies Inc. patents for router technology, but asked the lower court to reconsider whether one of the asserted patents is invalid. The lower court had based its decision not to invalidate that patent on a single term, which it erroneously construed, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said Tuesday. The Federal Circuit upheld the rest of the district court's rulings in the case against Cisco, which ended in 2007 in a $6.5 million damages verdict for Telcordia and an order for the two to work out a fair royalty. Telecordia is represented by Finnegan.
