WASHINGTON, DC—On February 17, 2016, the International Law Office (ILO) and Lexology announced the winners of the 2016 Client Choice Awards. Finnegan partner and trademark practice group leader Douglas (Chip) A. Rettew received, for the second time in his career, the District of Columbia award for Intellectual Property in the category of Trademarks.
Mr. Rettew focuses his practice on trademark, false advertising, and unfair competition litigation and disputes. He litigates cases involving a broad range of issues, including traditional trademarks, trade dress, design patents, false advertising, product disparagement, unfair competition, and domain names. Mr. Rettew has significant experience protecting global brands, including Under Armour, Bridgestone, the NFL Players Association, Capital One, Subaru, the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), and PNC Bank. In addition to litigation, he is involved in trademark and copyright prosecution and licensing.
Since 2005, the Client Choice Awards have recognized partners who have added real value to their clients’ business by providing excellent client service that goes above and beyond their peers. The awards survey senior corporate counsel, and winners are selected from more than 2,000 individual client assessments.
