Finnegan Announces 15 New Partners
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, the largest intellectual property law firm in the U.S., announced today that fifteen of its lawyers will become partners of the firm, effective January 1, 2002.
Christopher Foley, the firm's Managing Partner, stated, "The firm is delighted to have such a large and talented group of associates and counsel become partners. They exemplify the firm's commitment to excellence and the diversity of our legal skills and experiences."
The members of the 2002 partner class come from each of the firm's domestic offices and represent all of the firm's practice areas. In the last year, Finnegan has grown by 20%, adding almost 50 lawyers in 2001. The firm also opened a Cambridge, Massachusetts office at mid-year and is preparing to open a Reston, Virginia office in 2002.
New Partners in Alphabetical Order:
Leslie I. Bookoff (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Mechanical Practice Group. His practice involves most aspects of patent-related work, including litigation, prosecution, licensing, counseling, and opinions. He holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland (1990) and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (1993).
Michele C. Bosch (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Chemical/Metallurgical Practice Group. Her practice focuses on patent procurement, opinion writing, interference work, and client counseling primarily in the chemical, cosmetic and pharmaceutical areas. She holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia (1990) and a J.D. from the College of William & Mary (1993).
York M. Faulkner (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's IP Specialties Practice Group. His practice is dedicated to IP litigation. He received his B.S. (1989) and J.D. (1992) from Brigham Young University.
Michael J. Flibbert (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Chemical/Metallurgical Practice Group. He specializes in patent infringement litigation relating to chemical and pharmaceutical inventions. He holds a B.S. from Georgetown University (1986) and a J.D. from George Washington University National Law Center (1994).
Susan M. Freedman (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Trademark and Copyright Practice Group. Her practice focuses on trademark prosecution, client counseling, litigation, and practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She holds a B.A. from Hamilton College (1984) and a J.D. from George Washington National Law Center (1992).
B. Brett Heavner (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Trademark and Copyright Practice Group. His practice includes domestic and foreign trademark prosecution, client counseling, and trademark infringement and false advertising litigation. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John's College (1989), and he received his J.D. and LL.M. (1992) from Duke University School of Law.
Christie Baty Heinze (Atlanta, GA) is a member of the firm's Trademark and Copyright Practice Group. Her practice focuses on trademark prosecution, client counseling, litigation, and practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She holds a B.A. from the College of William & Mary (1983) and a J.D. from The George Washington University National Law Center (1991).
Scott A. Herbst (Palo Alto, CA) is a member of the firm's Electrical and Computer Technology Practice Group. His patent practice is focused on post-trial and appellate litigation, as well as infringement and validity opinion work. His technical expertise is in electrical/electronic arts, with a particular emphasis on telecommunications and data communications. He holds a B.S.E.E. from the General Motors Institute (1989) and a J.D. from the Wayne State University School of Law (1993).
Thomas L. Jarvis (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Electrical and Computer Technology Practice Group. His practice is focused on litigating complex technology matters before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). He received his B.A. in Chemistry & Communications (1978) and his J.D. (1985) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Howard W. Levine (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Bio/Pharmaceutical Practice Group. Laura P. Masurovsky (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's IP Specialties Practice Group and has nearly 20 years of experience in federal and state litigation. She holds a B.A. from Tufts University (1977) and a J.D. from Harvard University (1983).
Robert A. Matthews, Jr. (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Mechanical Practice Group. He concentrates his practice on patent litigation and counseling clients on patent matters. He holds a B.S.M.E. from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University (1985), a M.S. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook (1987) and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law (1992).
Leslie A. McDonell (Cambridge, MA) is a member of the firm's Bio/Pharmaceutical Practice Group. She has coordinated patent portfolio strategy, evaluating and analyzing competitors' patent positions worldwide. Also, Ms. McDonell has advised and rendered opinions on issues of patentability, claim scope, interference, foreign opposition, validity, infringement, and freedom to operate. Barbara R. Rudolph (Washington, DC) is a member of the firm's Bio/Pharmaceutical Practice Group. Her practice focuses primarily on U.S. district court litigation and appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in the area of pharmaceutical and medical device arts.
