Ethics and the Internet 2009
Finnegan-Hosted Event;
Speaking Engagement
October 19, 2009
Reston, VA
Many new and challenging ethics issues have arisen for lawyers because of the Internet and social networking. Finnegan invites you to attend a two-hour seminar designed to help you become familiar with these new ethical challenges and teach you how to avoid the pitfalls in this developing area of the law.
The seminar will explore information security issues from an ethical perspective, choice of law questions, and unauthorized practice of law concerns. It also will address issues surrounding the formation of attorney-client relationships, conflicts, and confidentiality as they relate to the Internet. We will examine ethical concerns that arise from blogs, chat rooms, e-mails, twittering, online referral services and directories, online bids for legal services, and metadata.
The featured speaker, J. (“Jay”) T. Westermeier from Finnegan, is a frequent and well-known lecturer on Internet issues and ethics.
