Our Summer Associate Program gives law students total immersion in the practice of intellectual property law.  It’s fast-paced, challenging, and professionally oriented.  While being exposed to the exciting diversity of IP law, you’ll be working under the supervision of some of the best practitioners in the field.  You will receive solid career preparation that complements your law school coursework.  With its strong emphasis on professional development and training, our program sharpens the skills you’ll need to succeed.

Training programs include:

• Persuasive legal writing
• Introduction to patent law
• Patent application filing strategies
• Overview of trademark/copyright law
• NITA basic deposition training

Work assignments include:

• Legal research in patents, trademarks, copyrights, and procedural and evidentiary issues
• Drafting legal memoranda, motions, briefs, and licensing agreements
• Prosecuting patents and trademarks
• Writing and publishing articles and speeches
• Attending depositions, client meetings, and strategy conferences

In addition, social, cultural, and sports events, and firm-hosted dinners and receptions help familiarize you with the larger Finnegan Henderson community.
