Mass Device held a video interview with Eric Raciti, partner at Finnegan, to discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's June decision in Bilski v. Kappos, which affirmed a lower court's ruling that business methods cannot be patented. In the interview, Raciti explains what it means to patent a business method and discusses its implications for the medical device industry. He also discusses whether the medical device industry's reputation for litigiousness is deserved and how fledgling device makers should go about protecting their intellectual property.
