In 2011 to date, Finnegan has logged more than 7,000 hours and donated more than $500,000 to national groups supporting veterans’ charities, through a special program that provides pro bono work handling claims by veterans at the appellate level. In addition to its time, Finnegan donates all of the attorneys fees paid by the U.S. government to veterans’ charities. The program, started in 1998, has helped hundreds of veterans nationwide with this sometimes difficult process. In honor of Veterans Day, the firm’s Atlanta office donated $25,000 locally to the Shepherd Center’s SHARE Military Initiative, which was founded in 2008 and provides care for soldiers who suffer from PTSD and who have sustained mild traumatic brain injuries while in Iraq and Afghanistan.
