WASHINGTON, DC — Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the world, announced today the election of four lawyers to the partnership, effective January 1, 2014. The diverse backgrounds and technical knowledge of the new partners range from consumer products to medical devices, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals to electrical, computer, and mechanical-related technologies. Their practices cover all aspects of IP law, including counseling, prosecution, and litigation before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, federal district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the European Patent Office.
Martin D. Hyden (London) has a wide-ranging European patent practice, with particular emphasis on international patent prosecution, protection, and portfolio management. He has patent prosecution experience before the UK and European patent offices, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and patent offices in other countries. Mr. Hyden has detailed knowledge of European Patent Office (EPO) opposition and appeal procedures and has represented clients in numerous hearings before the EPO examining, opposition, and appeal divisions. He has broad experience with Patent Cooperation Treaty applications, as well as a wide knowledge of the procedures of numerous patent offices around the world. Mr. Hyden received his B.S. (1983) from University of Birmingham, UK.
John M. Mulcahy (Reston, VA) focuses on patent litigation before both the U.S. International Trade Commission and federal district courts. He has extensive experience in the strategic use of reexaminations in litigation and has filed numerous successful requests. A former primary examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he has successfully argued before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and he has filed and prosecuted numerous applications. Mr. Mulcahy received his B.S. (1993) from Pennsylvania State University; and J.D. (2005), magna cum laude,Order of the Coif, from Georgetown University Law Center.
Jennifer H. Roscetti (Washington, DC) practices patent litigation in a range of chemical and pharmaceutical fields before U.S. district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. She has particular experience in representing pharmaceutical patent holders in litigations arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act. Ms. Roscetti received her B.S. (2002) cum laude, from University of Kentucky; and J.D. (2005) from University of Houston Law Center.
Qingyu Yin (Washington, DC) focuses on Section 337 investigations at the U.S. International Trade Commission. He has significant experience in patent litigation, patent preparation and prosecution, and client counseling in smartphone technologies, semiconductor technologies, materials science, and other electrical areas. With experience in both litigation and prosecution, Mr. Yin is able to provide effective client counseling on patent matters. He travels extensively to China to assist companies with intellectual property needs and to present lectures on intellectual property topics. Mr. Yin received his B.S. (1998) from Tsinghua University, China; M.S. (1999) and M. Phil. (2001) from Yale University; and J.D. (2006) from Georgetown University Law Center.
