Partner
Cheri Taylor focuses on litigation in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and chemical patents, including Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigation. She also counsels clients on patent portfolios and acquisitions in the area of biotechnology.
Dr. Taylor is a regular instructor on the topic of claim construction and proving infringement at the Practising Law Institute.
Highlights
- Represented innovator pharmaceutical companies in defending their patents against infringement by generic manufacturers resulting in favorable settlements.
- Represented plaintiff L'Oréal in defending a patent relating to cosmetics packaging against Revlon resulting in favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
- Represented Organon Teknika Corporation in asserting its nucleic acid sequence-based amplification (NASBA) technology against Hoffmann-La Roche's polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology for amplification of DNA in U.S. district court and U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) actions.
- Conducted due diligence for clients on the potential acquisition of patent portfolios in the area of biotechnology.
- While a staff attorney at the ITC, was involved in seven Section 337 investigations, including the Commission's first biotechnology case, Certain Recombinant Erythropoietin Inv. No. 337-TA-281; and served as lead counsel in the first temporary relief investigation conducted under Section 337, Certain Crystalline Cefadroxil Monohydrate Inv. No. 337-TA-293.
- Taught science courses at the secondary and college levels.
