Partner, Litigation Mentor Program
Barbara Butterworth joined Finnegan in 2006 to lead the litigation mentor program and now serves as the firm's pro bono coordinator. Barbara leads the firm's Washington-based criminal pro bono program. In this role, she provides advocacy training through in-house coaching, and she co-counsels pro bono criminal cases with other Finnegan lawyers.
Barbara has more than a dozen years of experience litigating indigent criminal defense cases, including jury and bench trials. In addition to Finnegan's criminal pro bono program, Barbara oversees several of the firm's civil pro bono programs, including family law, housing, and disability cases.
Barbara is a frequent lecturer in trial advocacy skills, including at the Children's Law Center and the Washington Council of Lawyers. She is also a member of the D.C. Bar's Pro Bono Committee.
